Setup Guide
- Make sure you have a working avatar in a Unity file including: the up to date VRC SDK, and Poiyomi 7.0 or later shader.
- Open the Unity file you wish to import this collar into.
- As soon as your desired Unity file is open then double click the included Collar.unitypackage file. It will load briefly. (You can also drag and drop this file into Unity)
- Click import on the Unity window pop-up. Make sure you don't uncheck anything in that window.
- In the bottom "Project" window in Unity you will now find a folder named "Collar." Navigate to that folder.
- In this folder you will see five prefabs of the collar like "Gold Fabric Collar." Drag your desired prefab into the "Hierarchy" window on the left. The prefab should appear near the base of your avatar in the Scene and appear in blue lettering in the "Hiearchy".
- Open the armature of your Avatar and navigate through Body->Hips->Spine->Chest->Neck
- Drag the blue prefab for the collar in the Hiearchy onto the Neck Armature in the "Hiearchy" . It should now appear below the Neck and the Head Armatures.
- Click on the blue prefab in the "Hiearchy" and using either the "Move" tool in the Scene or the Transform tool on the "Inspector" move it to your desired positioning on your avatar.
- From here you can adjust with Blendshapes. To navigate to them click the arrow on the Prefab in your "Hierarchy" window on the left and then click on the "Collar."
- On the right Window in your "Inspector" click the arrow on the "Skinned Mesh Renderer" and then the arrow on "Blendshapes" here you will find the sliders for your collar. There is also a blendshape under the "Bell" on the "Hierarchy" window. Adjust these to your liking.
- In the "Hierarchy" window right click the collar under your neck armature and click "Unpack the prefab."
- In the "Hierarchy" window click on and delete the tags you don't want on your Collar to improve the performance.
- You're now ready if you're using the prefabs!
From here you can make your own custom texture for the collar! Make sure to save your Unity file! Then follow these instructions:
- Inside the Textures folder in you will find the layered texture .PSD. It has clear layers you can adjust the colors and patterns of! Make sure to hide the mesh layer before saving the .png.
- Once you're happy with your texture open up your Unity file again.
- Drag your image .png into the "Project" Window at the bottom of Unity. (Put it in a folder that makes sense!)
- On the "Hierarchy" Window on the left click on the "Collar" which should make a "Shader" appear on the right "Inspector"
- Click the arrow on the "Shader" and scroll down to the "Main" section in the "Shader" It should say "Color & Alpha" and then "Main Texture."
- From here you can drag your new texture from the "Project" Window into the little square next to the "Main Texture" under the "Shader" in the "Project" Window.
That's it! Congrats on your new cute collar! Take a photo and tag me in it when you are done, I'd love to see. :)
